Soprano Julia Frodyma is First year Master’s in Voice and Opera candidate at the Northwestern University Bienen School of Music in the studio of W. Stephen Smith.

The Polish-Canadian’s roles include Erste Dame in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte at the International Lyrica Academy, Susanna in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro with Long Reach Opera, and Suor Dolcina in Puccini’s Suor Angelica at the Amalfi Coast Music and Arts Festival. She will be making her Northwestern University Opera Theatre debut as Despina in the spring 2024 production of Cosi fan tutte. Frodyma has performed in the Showcase Series at the Canadian Opera Company for Asian History Month, and has appeared as a professional fellow at Songfest, as a soloist with the Toronto Sinfonietta and Académie Orford Musique.

Frodyma maintains a strong affinity for choral and chamber music. She has recently performed as a soloist in a concert of Bach Cantatas with the Northwestern Baroque and Contemporary Ensemble, and the Theatre of Early Music alongside Voces8. She actively tours and gives workshops with the Canadian Chamber Choir. She has presented recitals of both solo and choral repertoire in Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan. Excerpts from her recitals of Polish art song have been aired on TV TRWAM in Poland.

Frodyma holds a Bachelor of Music (2017) and Advanced Certificate in Performance (2018) from the University of Toronto, as well as an ARCT in Piano Performance from the Royal Conservatory of Music (2021.)
